Duct Tape Fixes the Broken Heart

Ahh yes, what can't duct tape do? I recommend give one of these babies to your special someone and he or she will be stuck to you like...tape. Also, in a pinch you can dismantle your flower and use it for some MacGuyveresqe creation to save the world from terrorists/poor duct work.

Back on the Chain Gang

Someone needs to knit this. It combines three of my favorite things in this world: ridiculous emo, sillyness and fuzzy

Its just plain cool. I don't know how to knit and I have other projects on the horizon, but whomever knits this will be "awesome" in my book, and thats saying somthing (mostly that you're awesome). The directions can be found thisaway The Ghost of Christmas Past

Flipping the Bird (animation)

I was talking to Rishi about his ongoing art project and it gave me some ideas. He's building a motorized zoetrope projector dingus with his landlord. It's going to have a series of strobe lights that flash whenever the film is in front of a certain location so the animation will be projected on a wall. (look forward to his upcoming zoetrope party sometime this summer)

On a much smaller scale I think it would be cool to make our own little animations. You would take a rolodex and glue the pictures on each card and have a motor turn the rolodex such that the pictures make an animation.

Also, I am now on the lookout for old junk electronics for The Science Lamp!. So if any of you see any old junk sitting in the basement hallways of your buildings that may be of use, gimmie a holler.

Keep yer peepers peeled!

My next project will involve painting monsters fighting in a city. The twist, is that the city will be some crappy old timey city or cottage scene picture that one would see at a thrift store. I need help locating an apropriately crappy substrate for me to deface, so keep an eye out for me.

OBEY SCIENCE!

Instead of making my presentation I made this. I think I can get away with just showing the picture instead of talking about my lab rotation. I know the image is not very original, but it IS fun.

Magic: The Nerd Gathering

I have just reached Nerdvana! For my nerd belt, what do you think about using "Magic the Gathering" cards to fill the belt instead of Star Wars trading cards? Now, I actually like Star Wars, but Magic is a whole new level of nerd. I'm gonna need a vote here.

The Monster Mash

The fruits of my craftnight labor! I still need to add a few finishing touches.

Special thanks to Emily for helping me saw the wood and Rebecca for her vision of the color scheme. I plan on painting this picture on the Frankentop, we'll see how that goes.

And here is some of my old stuff. I made this for Nooreen's Birthday, because she is a low throughput drug screening robot who can't really do the robot. But we love her anyway.

Punk 'ndorf

I had the nerdiest punk rock craft idea today in lab. Its a quick and simple way to make a spiked collar/bracelet. You simply take a plastic eppendorf tube

and connect the cap of one tube to a different eppendorf tube. You continue this until you have a string of eppendorf tubes that will stick out like spikes when you make a circle out of them. Its nerdware to the X-treme!

The Buckle Stops Here

I've found some mexcellent belt buckles for the "Nerd Keeps my Pants Up" project.

This is the nerdiest of the belt buckles

I could also go for geek chic
so cliche it hurts me

And speaking of hurting me...
I am so emo!

And then there is generic hipsterwear
I demand to be worn with a trucker hat
